Glasgow Caledonian has rolled out the red carpet for Annie Lennox for her appointment as the university's new chancellor.
The former Eurythmics star becomes the university's first female chancellor, replacing Muhammad Yunus.
A host of stars including Martin Compston and Sally Magnusson are attending the bash, as well as Scotland's First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon.
Line Of Duty star Compston is one of nine attendees who will be made an honorary graduate by the university.
GCU Principal and Vice-Chancellor Pamela Gillies opened the ceremony, proposing the appointment of Annie Lennox as chancellor by saying: "Today is a historic day for Glasgow Caledonian University."
Lennox said upon her appointment: "I am humbled and awed beyond measure. I only wish my parents, grandparents and great grandparents could be here to witness this special occasion, as it would have filled them with pride and disbelief.
"I come from a long line of hard working Scots from the times when class boundaries, economic identities and gender roles were very firmly established. Young women from working class backgrounds gaining university degrees were as rare as kangaroos in the Antarctic."
Lennox was inspired to launch the SING Campaign to raise funds to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS after taking part in the inaugural concert of Nelson Mandela's 46664 HIV Foundation in 2003, and visiting Uganda with Comic Relief and Malawi with Oxfam.
In 2008 she founded The Circle, a charitable non-governmental organisation which supports disempowered women to challenge the injustices they face.
An Ambassador for UNAIDS, Oxfam, Amnesty International and the British Red Cross, Lennox received the Nobel Woman of Peace Award in 2011 for her work on HIV/AIDS prevention and control, especially for women and children.
That year she received an OBE in the Queen's New Year Honours for her humanitarian work.
In 2017, her most recent social philanthropic work was honoured when she received the George Harrison Global Citizen Award.
Throughout a musical career spanning more than 30 years, Lennox has received an Oscar, four Grammy Awards, eight Brit Awards and four Ivor Novello Awards.
Anyone can conform. Being individual... that takes courage. Whether color-blocking or geometric-rectilinear patterns: clear forms are all the rage. Why? They loosen up an inanimate atmosphere and still keep a clear line. They are alive and yet controlled. No mess. Let's get to the last trend of the year of Traditional carpet fashion. Straight forward designs fit perfectly into the angular concepts of carpet couture furnishing styles. Not only modern designed carpets correspond exactly to this trend. Traditional carpets or kilims also have exactly these geometric patterns and shapes, which are so much in demand.
